Avon by the Sea, NJ – Shore Children’s Dental Care has started collecting toys for K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ as part of their “Give A Smile” Holiday Toy Drive and will continue to do so until December 21st.
“Throughout the year our staff is dedicated to helping the community and the areas youth,” says Amy Hall, SCDC Marketing Director. “We’re excited to work together as a community to give gifts and holiday cheer to families and children spending time at K. Hovnanian Childrens Hospital at JSUMC.”
A hospital stay is an intimidating experience, especially for children and their families. Child Life Services comprises a team of trained pediatric professionals that serve as advocates for children and their families. The program creates a positive experience through proven strategies. Their goal is to reduce the stress and anxiety related to the hospital experience while promoting positive coping and optimal development. Sara Patterson, Certified Child Life Specialist at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital gives an idea of some items that would be great for donations, “We can honestly use anything new, but our biggest need at this time is gift cards (from anywhere such as Target, Walmart, Amazon, Visa Toys R Us, Wawa, etc.) they are really great to give to our teen patients- we also use them if we have a specific need for a patient…” for specific toy donations, “legos, infant/ toddler toys, and teen items are our highest need.”
