Christa has been a dental assistant for more than 20 years. She lives in Spring Lake with her dog named Honey. She enjoys bike riding to the beach, spending time with her family and volunteers her time at the Humane Association.
Where did you grow up? My whole family is from Brooklyn NY but a month before I was born they moved to Princeton where I grew up. We visited Brooklyn so often I feel I am from there too!!
What was your dream job as a child? My dream job as a child was to be a mommy. I wanted to be exactly like my mother with 5 kids and take care of my family. It wasn’t in God’s plan for me to have children of my own but I have 3 nieces and a nephew that are the loves of my life and I get to work here with all the beautiful sweet children all day. I am very lucky.
Why did you choose to work in pediatrics? I chose to work in Pediatrics because I never had a fear of the dentist as a child that I can remember. I feel if you are kind and have patience with a fearful child they can overcome their anxiety and have a good experience that will carry them into adulthood. I’m proud to be a part of a team that makes that possible for all our patients.
Do you have any hidden talents? My hidden talent is cooking. For 20+ years I cooked for my husband and threw many dinner parties and hosted Thanksgiving and was very happy to watch my friends and family enjoy my food. In more recent years I just microwave my dinner so I can spend more time at the beach!!!
You’re a new addition to the crayon box, what color would you be and why? As a new addition to the crayon box I would be any shade of blue or teal or aquamarine. It reminds me of a summer sky and the ocean. I would call it Bluetiful.
Can you play any instruments? I played the flute and piccolo from fourth through twelfth grade. I would love to take it up again but I live in an apartment and I feel my neighbors wouldn’t be too happy about that!
What is your favorite cereal? My favorite cereal is Peanut Butter Captain Crunch but it really really sticks to my teeth so I only buy it maybe once a year.
Do you have any pets? I have a very cute very sweet Yorkie-Bichon named Honey who is seven years old. I can’t imagine my life without that little fuzzy face.
What is your superhero persona? What is my superhero persona? Hmm…..there was a short lived TV show in the ’90s called Captain Planet that protected the earth from pollution and saved animals. I most relate to him because I worked with the Humane Society and volunteer to clean up the beaches and parks when I can. “All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small….”
What’s your favorite thing about working at Shore Dental and why would you recommend the practice to parents looking for the best in care for their children? My favorite thing about working for Shore Children’s Dental Care is that every appointment for every child every day is the most positive experience we can deliver as a team. From the front desk greeting to the prizes as they leave and all the wonderful care from our experienced Doctors and clinical staff in between. Every child in our care is the most important thing we focus on and I’m proud to be a part of it all.
